Day 5: Love Your Theme

Today is day 5 of Blogging 101 challenge. Today’s assignment: try out at least three other themes — even if you’re happy with the one you first chose. Try one you’re drawn to, and one you would never use.

What would I write about?

It used to come to my mind when I ever though of blogging.

And the second big one was “How my blog would look like?”

“Am I going to look like another shit with some weird text on the web?”

“Ok, not now. I’ll come up with a better idea.”

It was like I was searching for Mr. Universe withing myself without exercising, without going to ramp.

Lots of such question hold me back before I could finally decide to start blogging. I was able to come out of those blocks. Will surely write later on that.

If you haven’t started one yet, I am sure you are stuck with either one of the above issues. Let me tell you, those are good concern. But it doesn’t necessarily stop you from blogging. I learned it late with deep regret.

When you start a blog, it is important how you carry your thoughts and feelings to the people through an enticing, eye-catching frame on the web. It’s like your beautiful entrance door on the cloud.

How do you like the entrance-door of your beautiful house to be?

Attractive, stylish, pleasant…?

We are blessed with a spontaneous choice of everything which are attractive, pleasant to our eyes in first place. It depends on color-mix, structure, placement etc.

Same with the blog theme.

You might write the next most readable or shareable content on the web. But, if you can’t attract readers through the basic element of your blog, it will rest in peace in the web-grave.

If you can’t attract visitors through your beautiful entrance door, nobody cares what’s inside.

So, the theme is equally important as that of your blogging subject.

My Theme: The Best Choice

The theme should be selected sensibly. But again it shouldn’t stuck you for months to choose one. And it also should not feel like the “other one was better.”

Once you have opted one, love it.

Love it like your girlfriend—the best in the universe.

And hey, she will never ditch until you do..:p

My love: Big Brother. Oh, he is my boyfriend! Lol.

The default color mix is best. Head-thread is thick and blue. Side bar blocks are slightly bluish. H1 fonts are bold and big. H2 and text fonts are considerably larger in size.

On the whole, you can lean back and read every single word clearly. Background, thread and font colors mingling each other to give readers a breeze to go through the articles.

I am not going to check any other theme. I am loving my boyfriend. He is so attractive, a damn killer.

More I write, more I fall in love with the theme.

I have found one, what about you? Have you found your girlfriend; how she is? Do give feedback and suggestion in the comment section below.

Day 4: Why It Is Justified To Call Me Fool

Call me a fool. I won’t mind.

At all!

Surprised or feeling awkward? Why on earth someone asking to call himself a fool?

Well, I know, you are humble enough to do so, but I am unable to consider myself anything less than that.

Of course, there are reason. But first let me take you through a story which might give you an idea why I am so harsh on myself.

Two close friends were making so hard for their living. They always prayed to God to pull out of the situation so that they could live a well-to-do life.

One day, kind God appeared before them and asked to close their eyes. Then he gave one piece of silver to one friend and a piece of gold to the other; he blessed them and disappeared.

Both the friends were happy with whatever they got from God.

The name of one friend who received gold was Tom. Tom bought a treasure box, put the gold in it and kept the box in secrete place. He used to pull out the box, unlock and check the gold shining. It turned be his daily ritual. He did nothing with the gold other than that. He was just happy having gold in his treasure box.

The other friend, Eric started hunting for ways and means to earn more money. He realized that he could start a new business by selling the silver bar with him. He sold it and started a business with the money he got. He also had to move to other place for his business purpose.

Slowly, his business started to grow and few years later, he was able make a fortune with his business.

Tom, on the other hand, yet doing nothing other than guarding his treasure box.

They remained disconnected for years. However, they were still good friends.

One day Eric came down to his own town to meet Tom. Eric said to Tom that he was going to start trading on golds very soon and if he is interested, he can join as partner.

This put Tom in a big shock. He realized that he had made a big mistake just keeping the gold in the treasure box for years.

Tom agreed and they started the business.

So, what would you like to call Tom when he was just guarding the box?

A smart? Not at all.

Even Gold is just another piece of metal if you don’t realize it or don’t know how to utilize it in your favor.

Few years back, when I was introduced to online world, I was amazed by the activities going on, and how people were making from few hundred dollars to six figure a year on virtual world—with seemingly less amount of work.

It was mesmerizing.

Specially the figures. And also because they were all passive—at least according to the people who were making it.

Won’t you like passive income? Surely you will.

I also became passionate to build some earning source online—not essentially a passive one though.

But, I didn’t take any action at that time.

And years after, my realizations are same as that of Tom.

Starting from Basics

Above all, one foremost thing I realized is that the text content still rules the  web traffic. When you are good at expressing yourself through writing that connects with the readers—people are going follow you. Read you.

Writing opens up many ventures in the web business: content writing, blogging, freelancing, online marketing and many more.

So, even though I am late, I am starting my journey with basics—writing.

Let me learn how to express online and experience the odds if any.

What about you? What made you start again and why? Do give feedback and suggestions in the comment section below.

Day 2: Say Your Name

Happy to be here on Blogging 101 Challenge. Today is Day 2.

Today’s assignment : edit your title and tagline.

I am quite aware of the title and the tagline. As I said earlier, I want to be a freelance writer.

Freelancing is not an easy job in first place. At least for me now.

Freelancing is something one need to do professionally. Before you pitch for a freelance writing job, you have to be confident enough about your writing.

It all starts with pretty basic—writing.

No excuse, no escape.

Until you scale your writing to a level where you feel confident about writing on any topic, I think you can’t really go for professional writing. It doesn’t mean that it has be the next Shakespeare’s. But, at least to the extent that your content appeals the readers to read through.

One thing that can develop all of us as a better and confident writer is acquiring a habit of writing daily. It is better said than done though. Look at me, I am writing day 2 assignment on day 4. The reasons for not completing the daily assignments are endless. And I know that those logic are justified to me only—not for you.

For you, those are excuses. People are not around here to listen to excuses. Nobody cares whether you write or enjoy beer. But they definitely care and appreciate for one who dedicates himself for better future.

Essentially the daily assignments are meant for developing writing and blogging skills. And the deadlines are to check your dedication towards it.

One learning point here is: self discipline.

Don’t you feel so?

The discipline and dedication can develop my daily writing habit. And of course, completing daily assignments.

Tagline In Right Context

I am at ground zero right now. My English is pretty poor so as the style and tone.

I am really messed up what to write and how.

So, You can see, I have lot of things to improve about writing. But I am happy that the starting has been pretty good so far and people are liking my blog even though I am a bit tardy at the moment.

I think, the tagline gives a perfect context what my blog is all about.

Are my writings falling in line with the title and tagline? Do you think any exception? I appeal all of you to give your valuable feedback in the comment section.

Blogging 101: Introduce Yourself

I have just joined Blogging 101 Challenge. It is a platform where anyone can join to start blogging from scratch with a definitive guide. The only habit you need to follow is to complete the daily assignment for 30 days. However, they also provide a little guide with each assignment as well.

Today is the first day and the assignment is — Write and publish a “who I am and why I’m here” post.

Who am I

I’m another ordinary guy who belongs to a very ordinary family, and has completed graduation very ordinarily. I am 35, single, one of four in the family. Let me keep the rest with me now or for later updates.

But, do these facts matter for you or for rest of the world?

For me, it doesn’t. Everybody acquires these numbers when they come to the world and end up with the numbers when they die. Can they hold or adjust these numbers anyway? No—they can’t.

The Only thing that matters is who you are as a contributor—your identity as a contributor to your family, to your society, to your nation or to the world.

We have a default story when we come to the world. No choice with that. But then we can transform the story along the way and that story matters to the world.

Why I am here

Let me be a contributor. Let me transform my story so that it matters to you.

I want to be a freelance writer.

And I have started from the first requirement—writing. I am very poor at the moment though. You can see my poor English in this post. But as suggested by many experienced freelance writer—one can improve only when he or she makes a habit of writing.

So, I am on my way. I do follow some freelance blogs. But, I know those tips and valuable advice won’t work if I don’t put them into practice.

Why Blogging 101?

Well, the best thing about this platform is that—it’s FREE! 🙂

And you also have a definitive guide what to do and when.

Most of all, the community: I can connect with newbie like me or with the bloggers who are in intermediate stage. The accountability to the community will push me expressing myself through writing and sharing.

My humble submission: please give feedback whatever I write. Be brutal if you find any nonsense, at the same time, do suggest what I should improve and how.
